Here's the full story:
On July 21st 2020, I lost my grandmother to cancer. While her battle with was quick, she fought hard and remained positive, refusing to let the pain show until the very end. The day before she passed, I gave her one of my wildflower necklaces to wear to the hospital the next day for her scheduled hospital visit. I didn’t fully grasp the idea that she would not return home the next day or that I would never see her actually wear that necklace.
I began making these necklaces privately about a week before she was diagnosed. Upon hearing her diagnosis, I knew that it just felt *right* to donate a portion of my sales of these necklaces to cancer research in her name. My grandmother was a jeweller by trade and taught me so much of what I know about jewelry, art and nature today. Each flower used to make these necklaces is collected from my grandmother’s property— a piece of her garden preserved forever. My intention was to sell these throughout her battle with cancer, not after it ended... But one month later and her battle with cancer ended. After giving myself time to come to terms with such an unexpected loss, I decided that I was ready to start following through with my original intention.
These necklaces are for sale for $18.50 each (including the wildflower resin pendent and necklace chain) and 100% of the sales will be donated in my grandmother’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society. Any further donations that you wish to give will be graciously accepted and donated alongside the other sales. I am continually making new necklaces so selection is not limited to the necklaces shown below. When you order we can talk about which necklace suits you or your loved one best. Canada-wide shipping will be made available at an additional cost as needed.
Whether it is someone you know, or you yourself, cancer affects almost every one of us. So please, hug the people you love today ❤️
To date, Art By Ki has donated $834.50 to the Canadian Cancer Society. This number will be updated as donations continue to be made. Thank you to each of you who have made these donations possible. It means so much to me to be able to make these donations.
